Cosmetic Dentistry

Here, at Bishops Park Dental Centre, we fully understand the importance of a healthy and attractive smile. We appreciate how the appearance of your teeth can greatly affect the way you feel about yourself. We listen sympathetically to your concerns and will advise you on the best way to achieve the result you wish for.

We are able to offer a wide range of cosmetic treatments using the latest in dental technology including:

Tooth Whitening

We are a "Zoom Whitening" accredited practice. We use this specialist dental product to whiten your teeth eliminating the stains of tea, coffee, red wine and ageing. The treatment is very effective resulting in a truly whiter brighter smile zoomwhitening.com

We also offer a home whitening kit, enabling you to whiten your teeth at home over a period of 2-5 weeks. We custom make for you a tray that fits closely over the teeth to be whitened. You place a small quantity of gel into the tray and place it over your teeth for at least 2 hours per day, until you are happy with the resulting colour. Please ask your dentist for further details.

White Fillings

There are now many techniques available to restore broken, decayed teeth which have suffered some degree of wear of the enamel surface by using a tooth coloured material. We use both composite and porcelain restorations. Both these filling materials are matched to your own natural tooth colour and are bonded on to your tooth, which is another benefit over the old style filling materials. This bonding procedure actually makes the restored tooth stronger than the natural tooth.

Veneers

A veneer is a covering or facing made of porcelain which is bonded on to your natural tooth. The primary function is to improve the aesthetics and can be used in cases where the teeth are chipped, discoloured or malaligned. They are most frequently used on the upper front teeth. They involve very minimal preparation of your own natural tooth.

Crowns

A crown or a "Cap" is a covering placed over the top of your own natural tooth to restore it for both function and aesthetics. Crowns will greatly enhance the appearance of heavily restored, chipped, discoloured or misshapen teeth. In some cases they can be used to correct a malalignment of teeth where straightening is not an option. In case of heavily filled teeth, crowns serve to protect the tooth from fracturing under strain of chewing or grinding and are indicated nearly always on root treated teeth.

Bridges

A bridge is used as a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth. They are both aesthetic and functional, restoring your natural bite and preventing movement of teeth adjacent and apposing the "gap" that would occur if left unrestored. In simple terms they can be viewed as a fixed unit comprising of crowns on the supporting teeth, with a false tooth bonded in between to "bridge the gap". They are a very desirable alternative to a removable partial denture.

Implants

An implant is a device implanted into your jaw to act as an anchor enabling replacement of a lost tooth with crowns or bridges. This is a highly specialised treatment. We are delighted to have our own Implantologist Dr Yvonna Szyszko and Dr Fadi Barak on our team here at Bishops Park Dental Centre. Please click here for further information.

Orthodontics - Tooth Straightening

If required, we can arrange for you to see a specialist Orthodontist who will discuss with you the options for correcting crooked, crowded and overlapping teeth using braces. This may or may not involve extractions.
